    AWF Update

    Hello everyone,

Hope all of you are doing all right.  I'm doing all right myself.  Here to give another update concerning the AWF and Final Survival guides for Ai-Kon 2009.

The guides still have a lot of work but it's coming along pretty good.  6 pages are pretty much finished.  Might touch them up a bit.  The FAQ is done but I have to proof read it again and then add it to two pages of the guide.  Hope to have that completed this week.  As for what questions will appear in the FAQ, I don't want to give away a lot of spoilers but two questions will be -

Do characters wrestle in full costume?  If so, then how does someone liike Princess Zelda wrestle in her dress?

Why are a lot of good guy characters on the bad guy side?

Those are just 2 questions out of 9 in the FAQ complete with answers.  More questions/answers might be added if there's room.  I keep coming up with questions I know congoers would ask concerning the AWF.  But we'll see.

The wrestling history bios for the team captains are taking time.  Glad I'm only doing bios for the team captains and not the whole roster.  I'm mainly just doing jot notes at the moment for them and then working out the rest.

Still have to write the disclaimer / Author's Address page which explain my thoughts on the AWF and why / what inspired me to create it.

I'm truely having a lot of fun with the AWF and coming up with creative matches and storylines.  I've gotten so involved with it and having so much fun that I already have plans for Final Survival 2010.  Next year's will be called Final Survival: Prairie Heat.

Man, being so involved with the AWF, I feel like I'm the CEO of it or something hehe ^^.

So be such to check out Final Survival: Medieval Times this summer along with ringside commentators Professor Samuel Oak (Pokemon), CId Highwind (FFVII) and special guest commentator Kukaku Shiba (Bleach) and cheer on your favourite characters and teams.

Bizzare Guilty Gear-related dream but with cool music
Last night, I had a rather bizzare dream involving Guilty Gear.

In some unknown city, there were this street gang/punks/hippy-like people, don't know what to describe them and they were cosplaying characters from Guilty Gear.  Though they weren't the greatest cosplayers from what I saw.  Anyway, it was night and they were doing some sort of training that involved psyhicing in each other out.  I just remember seeing them screaming and shouting "heyaa!!" and shoving their weapons at each other but not hitting each other whiling surrounded by burning trash barrels.  The next day during daylight, I for some reason was in the dream and was hanging out with the actual GG characters.  The only ones I really remember were Sol, Ky, May, Johnny, Axl, Chipp and Baiken.  We rushed into a costume shop for some reason and the owner, while talking to a customer, saw us and said "What do you want?" in a rather negative tone.  I don't remember what the discussion was fully about.  Then someone shouted "They're here!" and the GG characters ran to the front of the store.  Then here's where it got really bizzare.  After they ran off, I was standing with the shop owner and a......Usopp (One Piece) cosplayer!  Why was he there?  I laughed at him saying his costume was the easiest and he's half naked.  He laughed back and said "You're right on that."  Then that's when the awesome music played.  It wasn't music I heard before but it sounded like video game music or Jpop-like.  He and the Usopp ran to the front of the store and I climbed out of the store through a window.  Why did I do that?  We made it outside and I the last thing I remember was seeing the GG characters in battle with the street gang to the awesome music.

It was just bizzare but yet, I *loved* the music that played.  It was just a random music that my brain made up.  As for why I was dreaming of Guilty Gear was most likely cause I was checking out some GG doujins someone is selling on LJ and there's one I want.  Also I was looking at GG figures on ebay.  Think that's what triggered the dream but one question.

Why was there a Usopp cosplayer there?!  I have nothing against Usopp.  He's cool.  But why did he pop up in the dream when I didn't read, look or did anything One Piece related yesterday.

That's really all I have to say for now.  Will give an AWF Final Survival 2009 Guide Project update before the year is over.

    AWF Final Survival 2009 Update

Hello fans of the Anime Wrestling Federation,

I have come with some updates with AWF's 2009 pay-per-view, Final Survival: Medieval Times.

This one has been a lot of work so far.  Searching all over the internet to find good enough pics for all the characters.  Some were easy to find and others took some deep digging.  Currently all the slots are full, though I'm not 100% happy with the last slot I filled.  I don't mean to give spoilers but the one I'm not happy with is Greed (Fullmetal Alchemist) being on Orochimaru's (Naruto) team cause I already have a character from FMA into another match and out of all the series at this pay-per-view, there is no one from Bleach.  I know that some congoers at Ai-Kon will probably be whining over the lack of Bleach so I want to add a Bleach character, a male, to Orochimaru's team.  Anyone have suggestions?  It can be either a good guy or bad guy but a character you can see working with Orochimaru.  One idea I have so far is Byakuya.  You see I don't watch Bleach so most characters are clueless to me.

Though I do have plans for one Bleach character being at Final Survival but not in a wrestling match.  Instead, they would be doing ringside commentary with Gregory "G.J." Johnston and Cid Highwind.  And that character is -

     l

     l
     l
     l
     l
     l
     l
     l
     l
    \/

    Kukaku!!

Though Kukaku would be the "face (good guy)" wrestler and Cid is the "heel (bad guy)".  G.J. is more of netural.  If I do get a picture of G.J., I plan to get some random background anime character to be him.  I picture G.J. being in his mid-late 30's, short brown hair (light or dark coloured) and I can see him with or without glasses.

As of right now, the list below is what I have for Final Survival: Medieval Times without giving away more spoilers:

    # of series - 27
    # of anime - 18
    # of video games - 9
    # of characters - 42
    # of males - 19
    # of females - 23
    # of matches - 6 including the Final Survival Match

In case anyone is asking, the Medieval Times is just a theme.  It doesn't mean all series are medieval / fantasy based.  It's like JAAWathon, it has a theme but not everyone is cosplaying from a series with the same theme.

Also with Final Survival: Medieval Times next year, I'm currently making bio pages for the team captains so congoers are learn more about the character's history with the AWF.  It would also help the congoer past the time while waiting in line for the dealers room or autograph signings.

On a bit of serious note with the AWF, there will be a full page disclaimer to explain why I did this and ask fans not to take it seriously or offensively.  As well, I want cosplayers to have fun with the AWF.  If they see the character they cosplaying on the flyer, be excited and probably go around the con and try to find your teammates or opponents.  If you do find some, chat with them and possibly make a new friend.  Isn't that one of the big things we go to anime cons for - meet / make new friends?

I do promise that Final Survival: Medieval Times will be better than this year's cause the one I did this year was rushed and I have a whole year to get Medieval Times done.

To finish off, I'd like to leave you with some wrestling videos to give you an idea what Final Survival is and help you visualize the AWF,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLLiGRnUsK8 - this is what I based Final Survival off of and this was the only time Survivor Series had a Final Survival Match.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlkoQ2FUBi8 - cosplay wrestling from Japan.  That's Kevin Mask from Ultimate Muscle.

And here are some Japanese Women Wrestling videos.  These girls wrestle with passion and great skills.  Plus I like a lot of the outfits, some of them look like superheroes.

    Shelke Rui is real?
    Hey everyone,

Had an interesting encounter today.  I was at the Winnipeg bus depot and was boarding the shuttle van for the ride out to my hometown Glenboro, which I'm posting from, and I saw that the van had a new driver.  I saw it was a girl and when I approached to hand her my boarding pass, I looked at her and in my head, I was saying "Shelke Rui from FFVII:DoC?!"  This young woman looked like Shelke with the hair length and color, the face and possibly the height since she was short and small.  She was even wearing Shelke's colors of blue and black.  I didn't get her name but if it started with 'Shel', I would definitely be convinced that anime/video game characters have somehow come into our reality and are living alternative lives.  The only differences were the back of her hair wasn't curled like Shelke's and she didn't sound like her though I would say she was definitely in her mid-late 20s.   I don't think I'll see her again on my route since I heard her say that she was doing it only for today since our usual driver was on vacation.  The fact that Shelke is my favourite female character in FFVII made the whole experience happy.

    That's about it for tonight.

    Three strange dreams
    Good Morning everyone,

Last night, I had three very strange dreams and all three were Final Fantasy related.  Though I'm not really a Final Fantasy fan other than I like Shelke and Yuffie from FFVII *likes Shelke over Yuffie* :).

    Dream #1

I was on vacation with Quita in Paris, France for some odd reason.  Don't kill me Quita, I don't know why I was dreaming of you.  Anyway, at one point, we were in a tour car or taxi and were driving through an industrial section of the city.  We drove past this huge and vast junkyard/depot and the junkpiles were huge and seemed to reach for the sky.  After we past it, I looked at Quita and asked "Didn't that junkyard remind you of Midgar from FFVII?"  Quita bursted out laughing after I asked her that.

    Dream #2

After defeating the final boss in FFX-2, Yuna, Rikku and Paine were suddenly taken into a giant whirlwind and landed inside a large shopping mall in the food court.  The mall was deserted and near the food court was a grand staircase to the lower level of the mall.  Out of nowhere appeared these two snake-like dragons, one red and the other yellow.  Yuna spoke that these two dragons are the REAL last boss and they began to fight them.  Yuna and Rikku were in their songstress outfits and Paine was in her warrior outfit.  They were able to knock the dragons over the edge of the grand staircase and thought they defeated them but they didn't.  The dragons rose up and even grew larger and grew arms and claws.  The girls fought them again.  I, for some reason, was also present in the mall watching the battle as since I was an NPC, I couldn't get harmed by the battle.  The girls defeated the dragons for a second time but the dragons came back again and grew larger and grew legs and feet and wings.  Now this gets really bizzare.  As I watched the battle, I could see two guys hiding behind a column near the staircases and once the dragons were distraced, they ran down the staircase carrying all their bags.  Who were they?  They were Greg and Chris Ayres!!  Why?  I don't know.  Once they reached the bottom, Greg called back to the girls, "Is this the way out?" and Yuna replied "Yes!"  Greg then asked something else but I can't remember and I responded and he replied "It's okay Alex, I was just joking."  The last thing I remember of this dream was the dragons fusing together to create a giant two-headed dragon as the final, final, final, final boss.  I don't know if the girls won or not.

    Dream #3

This was an alternative ending to FFVII:DoC.  It started the same with going back to the Seventh Heaven Bar in Midgar.  Shelke is sitting at the table with that ipod thingy, minding her own business and looking out the window.  I remember watching this alternative ending with catpaw and faded_neko.  The scene then went upstairs to Tifa's bedroom where we see Tifa standing at the foot of her bed and laying on the bed is Yuffie, but Yuffie has her shirt lifted above her breasts so that we can see them and she wasn't wearing her shorts or underwear.  She was also laying in an odd position as if she is waitng for Tifa.  Tifa then takes off her two shirts and is now topless.  Faded_neko made a comment that Tifa's breasts were smaller than pervious games.  Tifa then laid on the bed beside Yuffie and both girls smiled and giggled at each other.  The camera pulled away and the scene faded to black and the ending credits appeared.  I made a comment to both girls that that ending made conteversay with soccer moms and religious people but both catpaw and faded_neko defended it saying that Tifa and Yuffie didn't "do" anything other than lay together.

Those were the dreams.  So weird but yet were kinda neat, especially the second one.

    Something I've been working on...

    Hello everyone,

Sorry for not many updates to my journal but I’ve been busy.  Got back from Otakon a couple of weeks ago.  It was a lot of fun.

In my last entry, I said that I was planning to share some big of sorts and I’m going to now.

For anyone who saw those AWF Final Survival flyers spread around Ai-Kon this year, I was the creator of those.  I had a lot fun making them though it took about 8 tricolor ink cartridges to get them all printed.  I know that a few congoers did enjoy them and found them to be very creative.  But I know that many others didn’t like them and criticized them.  But alas, you can’t please everyone and I wasn’t trying to.

Anyway, this entry is all about the AWF, the Anime Wrestling Federation.

My first ideas of the AWF happened around 2004-2005.  I am a fan of pro wrestling but I prefer the old school WWF from the late 80s to early 90s and Japanese wrestling.  While loving anime and cosplay, I’ve envisioned seeing anime/video game characters in real-life form, without their special powers/abilities, and being in professional wrestling.  Sort of like cosplay wrestling but staying in character and whatnot.  There have been some Japanese wrestlers that did use anime character costumes like Kevin Mask (Ultimate Muscle) and even once I saw a wrestler dressed as a Gundam in a match.

The AWF has a big roster of new and old anime and video game characters and just like in the storylines of pro wrestling, there are faces (good guys) and heels (bad guys).  Some of these characters, while good in the series they’re from, have turned heel and vice-versa.  Example:

During the course of 2006, the Final Fantasy stable (face) was in a big feud with the Guilty Gear stable (heel).  By the end of 2007, the Final Fantasy stable began to turn heel and at the start of 2008, they had fully turned heel.

Now you’re probably wondering, “These characters wrestle in full costume?  Wouldn’t that be hard for some characters?”  Well the answer is yes and no.  They do wrestle in full costume, but some characters remove one or two things to make it easier for them to perform.  Here are a couple of examples:

Naruto Uzumaki – wrestles in full costume, removes nothing.

Princess Zelda – comes down to the ring in full dress costume but removes dress and crown.  Under the dress, she wears a two-piece spandex wrestling outfit (sports top, pants and laced-up boots) in her colors of white, purple and gold.

Alucard (Hellsing) – removes hat, sunglass, coat and guns/holsters.

Now you’re wondering about their costumes since there are different versions.  Well, characters change outfits to fit with a storyline and to match the release of a new anime or game to help promote it.  Example:

Months before Naruto Shippuuden anime was to be released, all the Naruto characters on the roster announced that they were departing the AWF to go back to their villages for some further training and would be back in the future.  When they returned, they were now in their Shippuuden costumes just as the anime was starting.

What’s that?  You’re asking if the Naruto characters are still 12-15 year olds?  Answer: No.  All wrestlers are 18 and over but still look like the characters.

The AWF has three pay-per-views a year:

Animazement – held in April.  Always takes place at Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.  AWF’s version of Wrestlemania.

Final Survival – held in July.  AWF’s version of Survivor Series but a homage to Survivor Series 1990.

Slamsphere – held in October.  AWF’s version of Summerslam.

There are many feuds being fought currently in the AWF but the most notable are the following:

    AWF Feuds )

You probably noticed a lot of video game characters and yet it’s called Anime Wrestling Federation.  Well any Japanese anime/video games/manga are welcomed.  Also, the WWE/WWF is called World but 95% of the wrestlers are from the United States.

What plans do I have for AWF’s future?  Well, I will most likely announce Slamsphere’s match results in late October.  I’m currently working on Final Survival 2009 for Ai-Kon next year.  It’s being called Final Survival: Medieval Times.  Just like Final Survival 2008 had a sailor theme since it was from Halifax, next year’s having a medieval theme cause it’s going to be from Manchester, England.  I’m not giving spoilers on what teams there are going to be and who are the champions are going to be.

When I make new flyers for Final Survival: Medieval Times, there is going to be a full-page explanation on the back of the flyer to give some background on the AWF like some of the stuff I just wrote in this entry.  It will also say stuff like not to take this seriously or offensively.  It will also say that you don’t have to be a fan of wrestling to enjoy it and have fun with it.  If cosplayers see the character on the flyer that they cosplaying, I would encourage them to have fun with it and maybe try and find their teammates or opponents at the con (not that all characters will be there) and probably create new friendships cause isn’t that one of the best things about going to anime cons, making new friends.

I hope you were entertained by this entry and I've been having fun working on the AWF.  Expect more to come. :)

Hey everyone! I'm still alive. Wow, it's been almost a year since I last posted on here. Not a lot happening in my world. A mix of cosplay, planning for several cons (Ai-Kon, Otakon, JAAWathon and Manitoba Comic Con), and work is slow but still enjoyable.

I'm glad I've started posting again in my next post, I'm starting a little story thingy. So stay tuned.

    Ai-Kon 2007 and Cosplay Stuff
    Sorry for a week late.

Ai-Kon 2007 was last weekend and it was the best ever. It was really busy and exciting. They say over 1500 came this year compared to 1100 last year. YAY!! There were many, many great cosplays this year. I wore three costumes this year: Prince Eccentro (Mon Colle Knights), Haku (Naruto) and Luffy (One Piece). Instead of telling about the whole con, here is a list of some highlights I saw and liked:

~ Prince Eccentro recieving so much love. So many people knew who he was and what he was from. I even got two great compliments and two hugs while waiting in line for registering on Friday.
~ Guests Vic and Greg. Greg is such a cool guy to hang out and talk to.
    ~ Quita's Rikku costumes
    ~ Naruto rules Ai-Kon
    ~ Large dealer's room - 11 dealers this year.
    ~ Cosplay Fashion Show
~ Low-key security. Pretty much all props, including wooden keyblades, were allowed this year.
~ Bleach cosplayer giving me a Chopper figurine while I was cosplaying Luffy.
~ Naruto doujinshi w/ Haku in it that I bought.
    ~ katmurz's awesome Abel costume
~ me (as Luffy), Joc (as Sephy) and Serena (as April) doing our Yo Ho Battle Photoshoot.
~ yelling out "TETRIS BLOCK!!" once I saw a guy cosplaying one.

It was an excellent Ai-Kon and of course I'll be attending it in 2008.

Now with Ai-Kon done for the year, I'm currently working a couple of new costumes:

~ Chunnin Octy ~ my second crossplay. The costume is based off of Octy's outfit from a Guilty Gear/Naruto crossover fanfic of mine. Today I did some cosplay shopping at the Kildonian Place area. I bought blue sweatpants, a black sleeve-less turtleneck shirt (it's exactly like Octy's black shirt she wears in Guilty Gear) at Value Village and blue Naruto sandals at Little Star Gifts in the mall. I have a chunnin/jounin vest that I bought at Ai-Kon, gloves, bandages, bandana for the costume. I just need a Hidden Leaf headband, a kunia pouch, and a green wig.

~ Dominikov (Murder Princess) ~ currently have boots for him. Have to add black trim and buckled (silver colored) straps. Have to wait till Halloween to find his gloves and mask. He'll take time but he won't make his apperance till Ai-Kon 2008.

~ Blarney Pirates crewmate (Starship Titus) ~ a hentai cosplay. Yes, I said hentai. Just a simple cosplay. Just need a brown vest and bandana. Might make a cardboard gun too.

Also in costume news, I have officially retired July (Guilty Gear X). The wig and shirt have worn out. July was a very fun costume to wear. I remember Ai-Kon 2005, the first year I wore it and all the nice comments and support I recieved, JAAWathon 2006 with July's Bitchy Rant in the Cosplay Contest, and the several photoshoots I wore it to. It's a bit sad to retire her. Though most of the costume isn't going to waste. The bandages, bandana and gloves are being used for Octy. The wig has been thrown out but I don't want to throw out the shirt since the sailor collar is still really good but it's sewn to the shirt and I don't know if it can be saved. The sword, sheath, eyepatch, buckled straps, shorts, belt and bow aren't being thrown out. I would like to sell them.

I think that's all for now. See you later.

    Canada Day weekend
Happy Canada Day everyone!! I had a pretty good long weekend.

    Friday

Headed out to the country to spend the weekend with my parents in Glenboro. After I arrived, I got to see my finished shirt, pants and leggings for my Eccentro costume for Ai-Kon. I tried them on and they fit great and I looked cool in the mirror.

    Saturday

Got to work on Eccentro. Got finished the epiettes for his cape and these orange symbol thingies for his pants. We also worked on the wig, trimmed it and worked on the ponytail. Probably the best part of the day was a wonderful and long chat with my friend [info]faded_neko on MSN. We chatted for like 3 hours!! Usually we chat that long in person, not online. We mainly chatted about cosplay. The main subject we chatted about was overdone / overpopular cosplays and why they probably get all the publicity and fandom and lesser-known series and characters are looked down upon and left in the dark. We both made great points and had fun. Thanks faded_neko for that great chat.

    Sunday

Canada Day. Mom took me to the Glenboro Fair for the free pancake breakfast. Later in the day, all of Eccentro was finished and I put on the entire costume. I looked great. I think I'm the first person to ever cosplay Eccentro or even anyone from Mon Colle Knights. My mom took a couple of pics and then we went next door to show the neighbours cause they wanted to see it and they were all amazed. I can't wait to show it off at Ai-Kon at the end of the month.

That was pretty much the weekend and my parents brought me back to the city today. I think that's about it. Going to make some ginger snap cookies right now.

    Cosplay work and shopping xD
This week was really fun. Christine invited me and a few others to her place on Saturday for a cosplay work day and photoshoot. I brought my in-progress Haku mask to work on. I spraypainted it the day before and it took about a full can to make it pure white and hide the images since it's made out of the side of a soda pop box. Christine was very helpful in giving advice, especially when I screwed up on painting the red flames in the wrong place and she was able to help me fix it. Got the mask all painted and slits on the back glued on. The mask isn't perfect but it will work.

The day was also good to chat to Christine, Joc, Serena and Serena's friend Kayla. Later in the day, we did do a photoshoot with me (Izumi from Full Moon), Christine (Tai from Digimon), Serena (Jin from Samurai Champoo) and Kayla (Kakashi from Naruto). We just did some photos outside behind her apartment.

Afterward, we worked a little bit more on costumes and chatted and played Wii games. At 9pm, Neil and Jen gave me a ride home.

Today, I did a little cosplay shopping in the Polo Park area. I got some thicker green pipecleaners from Michaels for Haku's wig. And an interesting cosplay idem I got but a neat story behind it. Several weeks ago at work, I only had about half hour left in my shift and had no immediate work to do. I looked through some flyers in the lunchroom and in a flyer from Uysk (spelling?? It's home store by Polo Park) was a picture of some boots, though they call them down shoes. Next year, I cosplaying Dominikov from Murder Princess and he wears light blue boots. Well after seeing the boots for myself, they were perfect for him so I bought a pair. Just have to add some straps and buckles to them. And buying these down shoes/boots is easier than trying to find actual rubber boots in blue, which unless if I was a child, are really hard to come by. And these boots are very comfortable and soft :).

Not much else to really say right now. So, nighty-nighty everyone.

    Photoshoot today...
and it was alright. Things didn't go perfect at the beginning. It was cold and cloudy in the morning. It felt like it was early March. I got my Izumi Rio costume on and headed to Assiniboine Park at 10am since the meetup was at 11:30. I got to the park at 10:30 and found the duck pond where were to meet. Well, I waited for an hour and by 11:30, no one else showed up. There was me in my Izumi costume, holding my wings and a bunch of ducks to watch. And here are the ducks,

I starting thinking that cause of the cold, everyone was meeting up at the conservatory. I walked all the way there and looked around. No one there. So I then walked back to the duck pond and it seemed again no one showed up. But then two girls came up and asked me if I was here for the photoshoot and I said I was. Then Mana and katmurz, as Jack Sparrow, showed up. A few minutes later, Joc, Serena, Angelica and Kayla showed up and the last of the others showed. We went to the Gardens and took many pictures around and a few other cosplayers showed up. After we were finished, we decided to go to the zoo. I headed over first and waited at the main entrance. I think I waited over 30 minutes and no one else showed up. I practically said screw it and decided to head back home. Saw Joc and Serena at the bus stop across the street before I my bus came and brought me home.

Here are some pics from the photoshoot:

That's about it. Not to sure what I'm doing tomorrow or Monday since it's a holiday.

    Summer has come early
The weather was excellent today. Sunny and very warm. Hot at times. Went out to the Forks today to hang around and there was a lot of people out enjoying the weather. A frisbee dog show was on by the waterfront and I stayed to watch it. It was really good. After my time at the Forks, I started thinking. I saw on the list of events coming up and one is the Buskers' Festival on May 26-27. I got the idea of a cosplay day at the Forks on one of those two days. I think it would be fun going in costume to the Buskers' Festival. Might post about it on the Ai-Kon Forums.

Cosplay wise, my Ai-kon '07 costumes are coming along ok. Can't really tell much at the moment on my secret costume. Still need some pink fabric and a wig for it. As for 2008, my cosplay plans are practically set in stone:

Jeremy ~ original character (Guilty Gear universe)
J.C. ~ Danger Girl video game (one of my dream crossplays)
Chunnin/Jounin Octy ~ Guilty Gear/Naruto crossover fanfic (another crossplay) Hoping to put together a small group for this since she, when she becomes Jounin and during the Naruto: Hurricane Chronicles timeline, she has her own team of Genin. I'm currently working on the character designs of them.
Captain N/Kevin Keene ~ Captain N: The Game Master. Hoping to put together a Captain N group for Ai-Kon 2008.

These four are set in stone for 2008. That's not saying perivous cosplays of mine won't be making returns next year. Yo Ho Battle will be at Ai-Kon 2008, so Luffy will be back. I might add another cosplay to the list but we'll see. I still have two costumes to work on for Chibicon 2K7, one of which won't be hard at all.

That's all for now. Going to do a bit of cosplay shopping tomorrow I think.

    Photoshoots are fun ^^
Well yesterday was my photoshoot at my apartment. Took me all morning to get things cleaned up and set up. The backdrop was pirate-themed complete with cloud & sky sheet, ocean sheet and sand sheet. Pirate props included inflatable treasure chest, small palm tree, telescope, treasure map and gold coins, all from Party Stuff store.

First Serena and her friend Kayla came over. Serena wore her Sora and April costumes. Kayla was cosplaying as Emo Pirate Sasuke. We had fun for a bit and then they had to head home. Christine came by at 7pm and we have more fun with photos till 8pm. She wore Fairy Rikku and a character (forget name) from Legend of Zelda: Orcania of Time. I wore my Luffy and July costumes.

I was really impressed with how my backdrop came out and even more impressed with the photos and lighting. However, when Christine and I started pics of me as July, I accidently pushed the wrong button and the remaining photos came out darker but still good. It was a very fun day.

And here are some photos from the shoot for your enjoyment,

I might have another photoshoot in the future, maybe before Ai-Kon. Other than, see you next time.

    Damn my curiousity >:l
Damn my curiousity on Limewire. I ended up downloading a file off it and both my Spy Sweeper and AntiVirus programs detected no problems or viruses in the file. But once I opened it, all videos in My Videos are corrupted and gone. Well, just the videos you see once you open My Videos folder. All my anime, convention videos, and Yo Ho Battle clips are safe since they were in seperate folders and are working fine. But the real bummer is that the videos that became corrupted were parts of my Yo Ho Battle video which now with them corrupted and gone, Yo Ho Battle promo is now missing two large sections of it when I opened it in VideoWave. Now I have to make those clips again.

Though there is a bright side to this I think. I wasn't entirely happy with the Yo Ho Battle video and was going to change two clips and fix up the ending which would have resulted in some off-syncness to occur and then fix. And while the music I used for the video went perfect in sync with clips and was pirte-related, I was thinking of making a new one with either "Heroes" or "Sail On" both by Masterplan.

So I think this corruption was a sign to make a new and better video.

Well back to the drawing board.

    Photoshoot at Christine's
Today was a great day. My friend Christine was having a photoshoot at her apartment and I saw the post about it on her website last week. So emailed her and told her that I would come. She doesn't live too far from me which was nice. It was the first time I'd been to her place.

I got to her place at about 12:30. Wow! I didn't know that she and Nathan had a lot of anime/video game merchandise. Every shelf and ledge had figurines and action figures sitting on them. The ledges above the doors to the kitchen, bedroom, living room and apartment were just lined with figurines and action figures inside their original boxes and wrappers. Though Christine told me that most had been opened already but were carefully put back together. We sat and chatted for a bit first. Then I got my Luffy costume on and did some pictures as she did some pictures of her Ban (Get Backers) costume. Then we chatted for a hour or so more. I told her about this dream/story idea involving cosplay and befriending a sad cosplayer and making her into a happy and confident person and her response was that it not only make a great story but also a great cosplayer movie.

Then I changed into my July (Guilty Gear) costume and Christine got her Millia Rage (GG also) costume and by that time, Joc came over. We did some more pictures and fun poses and such. I got changed back into my clothes afterward and we continued chatting again for a while. The three of us chatted about cosplay, anime, video games, dreams, ghosts and other things. I then headed home close to 8:00pm.

It was a fun day. I didn't get to take any pictures but Christine is sending me the pictures either tomorrow or Monday. I can't wait to see them.

    That's all for tonight.

A little more cosplay progress and other things
Well yesterday I did a little cosplay shopping. Found myself a right shade of brown coloured sheetfoam for my secret costume and also found some really good drapey things for the shoulder pads of my secret costume, though I didn't buy the drapey things as I'm still seeking the right colour out. I also saw some bamboo skewers in the Dollar Store that would be great for Haku's senbon needles and I think I can find some silver spraypaint at my parents' place. And I figure out a neat idea of how to make Haku's hunter-nin mask out of a soda pop box. So cosplay progress is going pretty good.

Recently I have been thinking of cool ideas for cosplay photoshoots, as in locations. Though most the locations might not be possible since they are out of the city and across the province. I got the ideas from travel brochures/guides I like getting at the Explore Manitoba Centre at the Forks. When looking at the pictures, it just clicks in my head "That would be a neat place to do some cosplay photos".

Some of the places included: Grand Beach (or some random Lake Winnipeg/Lake Manitoba shoreline with beautiful surroundings), a big open beautiful valley with tall grass and flowers, Spruce Woods Provincial Park & Spirit Sands Desert (by my hometown of Glenboro), International Peace Gardens, Manitoba Museum & Touch The Universe Science Centre, and the usual spots of Assiniboine Park and The Forks.

Other than from the cosplay progress and photoshoot dreaming, I've been feeling a bit unmotivated lately. I really want to write some of my fanfics and work on the Otakon 2008 Guide for my parents but I just can't get motivated to do them for some reason. Like I see how they look in my mind but I just can't type or write them down.

That's all for now I think.

    Some cosplay progress...
The weather was good and I decided to get some cosplay shopping done. Recieving my secret costume's hat in the mail last week gave me the inspiration to go out. I didn't find much but did get some styrofoam balls, string beads, and light blue spraypaint all for my secret costume.

I also decided to start using the two Chapters giftcards I got for Christmas. I bought the newest manga volume of One Piece, #13, after I bought it, I found out that my giftcard still has $14 on it 0_0!! I didn't know much was on the cards and the manga was just over $10. So the giftcard had $25 on it and that was just one of the two cards. When I get the chance, I'm going back to Chapters and getting other volumes of One Piece I'm missing.

I have also updated my cosplay list for this year:

    JAAWathon 2007

Izumi Rio ~ Full Moon wo Sagashite

    Ai-Kon 2007

    Secret Costume ~ Friday
    Haku ~ Saturday
    Monkey D. Luffy ~ Sunday

    Chibicon 2007

    Secret Costume from Ai-Kon
Random Capt. Blarney Pirate crewmember ~ Starship Titus
Lucy Smith ~ Starship Titus (yay for crossplay! ^^)
One of the two Starship Titus cosplays will be at Chibicon but unsure which one right now.
    Hijiri Shimon ~ Naruto

    Nothing else to report today.

Yo Ho Battle promo finished!! ^^
I have completed the Yo Ho Battle promo video tonight. Yay! ^^ The ending was rather rushed and the pictuesqish-ending looks choppy. But I've rather proud of the video despite that I'm not 100% happy with it overall. I still love how most clips/sequences fit perfectly in sync with the music and I was able to get everyone in it except Janice and Leap of the Jellyfish Pirates. I ended up making two copies of the video with different text endings ~ one for Ai-Kon 2008 and the other for Otakon 2008 since I'm planning on going to that con next year.

My plan now is to email the video, Ai-Kon version, to about three friends/fellow congoers to get their opinions and critique on how the video looks. I have a small list in my mind right now but I plan to put all the names in a hat or bucket and randomly draw three names out and send the video to those ones.

Though if you want to be involved in giving your critique on the video, feel free to post.

I think that's it for tonight.

    Stuff
Just some notes to post about.

It's been a frozen week outside. But it's also been a hot week inside. My apartment has those old water heaters and unfortunately, they don't have any knobs, except for the valves. And a while back, my caretaker said that I don't really have any control over the heat unless I open a window. My windows are frozen shut, well I've tried and they want to open but the turn knob appears to be frozen. So it's been very, very hot inside my building, except the hallways and nice and cool.

Was too cold outside today, so I stayed put and stayed warm. Though I ended up working very hard and long on my new Yo Ho Battle promo video. Been working on it for about a month now. Today, I added a lot to it. It's currently about 90% completed. Though here are some +'s and -'s to it:

    Positives

    - new video-editting program ~ VideoWave 8 (way better than Windows Movie Maker)
    - had a greater variety to footage unlike the promo video I made back in late 2005.
    - better quailty
    - about 95% of the clips go perfectly in sync with the music.
    - fanart used more creatively rather than flat out on the screen.
    - SUB FREE!!!

    Negatives

    - some of the clips are in widescreen format and the black bars are kinda distracting.
    - can't use some clips I really wanted to cause of length of music
    - didn't really want to use a clip of Sogeking (Usopp's disguise) in one part but due to not finding a good subless clip of Usopp, I had no choice.
    - Unable to fit all the Jellyfish Pirates in video (mainly Janice and Leap)

This promo video is for Otakon 2008 which I have a possibly at going to. Though it will also be used for Ai-Kon 2008 but will just have to change the title and the ending since next year at Ai-Kon, it will be called "Yo Ho Battle: Third Voyage".

Yo Ho Battle: Second Adventure Photoshoot for Ai-Kon 2007 is still on and won't be cancelled even if I'm the only one that shows up.

I don't think there is really anything else to tell about today. Going to bed in a bit. Good night everyone.
